Hold On! Metroid Prime 4 Finally Has a Release Date—And Samus Has a Motorcycle!
Metroid Prime 4 Release Date: We've been waiting for what feels like forever, but Nintendo just dropped a huge bomb. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is coming out this year, and guess what? Samus can ride a sweet motorcycle in it. Seriously.
Almost ten years after it was first announced, Nintendo is finally launching Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on both the Switch and Switch 2 later this year, on December 4, 2025.
Nintendo made the announcement today during their big September Nintendo Direct, finally putting an end to months of wild guesses about the game's release date. We hadn't seen any new gameplay since the big Switch 2 reveal back in April, which had a lot of fans worried that the game might get delayed again.
But today, we got a fresh new look at the gameplay. It was a chance to see that Samus will actually be able to ride a motorcycle in what looks like a much bigger, open world.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has already had a wild journey even before it's out. As the super-anticipated sequel to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which came out on the Wii in 2007, this fourth game in the first-person action-adventure series was something fans were really looking forward to.
The project first started at Bandai Namco Studios, but Nintendo ended up rebooting the game two years later with Retro Studios, the developer behind the original Metroid Prime trilogy, after the development went off the rails. We didn't hear a peep about the game for years after that, until it was officially re-announced in 2024, and then they confirmed it would be a cross-gen title for both the Switch and Switch 2. Phew, the wait is almost over, friends. Just a little more patience and we're good to go!
