What Are Shields in Monopoly GO?
Shields in Monopoly GO protect players from Shutdown attacks caused by opponents landing on Railroad tiles, which can set back progress on landmarks by requiring repairs.
Shields can be collected directly from your board. They appear randomly on tiles, and you only need to land on a tile with a shield to obtain it. Once collected, the shield disappears, and a new one will spawn after a minute or two. Multiple shields can appear on your board at the same time, and they continue to spawn even if you’re not actively playing.
You can change your shield skins anytime by visiting ‘My Showroom’ > Shields.
How to Get Different Shields in Monopoly GO
There are three main ways to collect a variety of free shield skins in Monopoly GO:
- Participating in Daily Events

Earn Shields Through Daily Events
Monopoly GO regularly features exciting events, and participating in them can earn you unique shield skins. One of the latest events is called Desert Bloom, a fun partner event where players use battery tokens to spin the wheel and collect rewards. As you build more landmark attractions, you’ll advance through levels, and you will be able to earn a cactus shield.

Get Shields by Completing Tournaments (Solo & Leaderboard)

To view your Quick Wins, tap the “Wins” icon at the bottom left of your screen during the game.

Here’s how to view and equip your new shield skin:
- Open Monopoly GO.
- Click the three-bar icon in the top right corner to access the sidebar menu.
- Select My Showroom.
- In the new window, tap the shield icon at the bottom bar, just above the exit button.
- If you have multiple shield skins, choose the one you want to equip.
- Click the green Equip button to apply your selected shield skin.
