Exciting Updates Incoming for Helldivers 2 with Major Patch
Arrowhead Studios has provided additional insights regarding the significant changes that players can expect in the upcoming major patch for Helldivers 2, set to be released tomorrow. Among the most anticipated updates is the return of the eruptor’s shrapnel, now redesigned to minimize accidental damage to players upon use.
This revelation is part of Patch 01.001.007, which will go live on September 17. Following this update, players can also look forward to the release of the Chemical Agents Warbond just days later. Earlier announcements detailed numerous adjustments, including improvements made to flamethrowers, railguns, and adversaries equipped with rocket launchers.
Focusing on the eruptor, a weapon that sparked considerable discussion back in late April and May due to its shrapnel causing players to unintentionally eliminate themselves, Arrowhead has made critical adjustments. Initially stripped of its shrapnel, the weapon’s enhancements failed to meet player expectations. However, developers Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmborg have indicated that they have now properly revamped the eruptor. They acknowledged that the original iteration had incorrect shrapnel, leading to an astonishing damage output of over 9,000.
Arrowhead has taken significant steps to improve the eruptor’s functionality. They have swapped the original shrapnel for that of the Frag Grenade, effectively eliminating immediate one-shot kills, barring the occasional unfortunate headshot. Furthermore, the patch increases the shrapnel quantity and boosts the explosion radius by 33%.
In addition, Arrowhead addressed the arc thrower, a weapon known for dividing player opinions. Developers indicated that this updated version would feature a moderate stun effect that accumulates on targets, and its effective range has been expanded from 35 to 55. The durable damage output will also experience a notable increase, rising from 50 to 100.
Pilestedt concluded the updates by describing the revised arc thrower as “more volatile, more powerful, [and capable of] killing your friends.” This sentiment was echoed in a recent tweet from the official Helldivers 2 account.
As players eagerly await these changes to the game’s most notorious weapons, Arrowhead encourages user feedback. The anticipated patch goes live tomorrow, September 17. Keep an eye out for further updates as the community prepares for these thrilling new enhancements.
