Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Fear Treyarch Has Forgotten About a Popular Mode

Players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are starting to worry that Treyarch Studios might have overlooked a fan-favorite game mode: Gunfight. This 2v2 multiplayer mode was a major highlight during the Black Ops 6 beta, and Treyarch even introduced new maps specifically for it with Season 1. However, it seems the mode hasn’t been included in the game’s playlist rotation for the past six weeks.

Similar to other Call of Duty games, Black Ops 6 frequently receives playlist updates. Although these updates don’t add new content, they do change up the available modes for players, usually on a weekly schedule. One of the most beloved playlists since the game’s debut is Stakeout 24/7. This option allows players to jump right into the fast-paced Stakeout map without waiting for it to come up in the rotation. Stakeout 24/7 features various game modes, including Kill Confirmed, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Kill Order. Unfortunately, with each playlist update, fans are becoming more frustrated as Gunfight has not yet made a comeback.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Players Want Gunfight to Return

Gunfight has become a fan-favorite mode in Black Ops 6, making its debut during the game’s open beta weekend. This exciting 2v2 format takes place on compact maps like Stakeout and Gala. Players enjoy random loadouts, with no respawns or health regeneration involved. Despite its long-standing popularity, fans are puzzled as to why Treyarch hasn’t reintroduced it in the last six weeks. Recently, a Reddit user named Masked555 raised the question of whether Treyarch has overlooked the mode entirely.

The post attracted a lot of players who expressed their wish to see Gunfight make a comeback, while some took the chance to address other playlist concerns in the newest Call of Duty game. A Redditor, JeeringDragon, mentioned that Treyarch appears to have “given up” on resolving issues with Black Ops 6’s free-for-all mode, which still counts assists as eliminations, causing confusion among players regarding the actual winner. The user questioned what Treyarch is currently working on if this classic mode remains unfixed after all this time.

While this may appear to be a trivial matter in the overall context, the ongoing issues with popular game modes being either broken or entirely unavailable for weeks could be a key factor in the drop in Black Ops 6’s player numbers on Steam since its October 2024 launch. Almost 50% of its player base has vanished, with numerous players blaming server troubles and a serious hacking problem for the game’s swift downturn.
