Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Shares Plot Details

Nintendo has unveiled a fresh trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, offering deeper insights into the game’s storyline. Named “The Year is 2054,” this video highlights Elma, one of the key characters, as she recounts the journey that leads players to the land of Mira. Additionally, the trailer provides glimpses of the gameplay in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition and how it has been modified since the Wii U’s GamePad is no longer in use.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a beloved JRPG series developed by Tetsuya Takahashi and his team at Monolith Soft, exclusively for Nintendo consoles. The original game was initially released mainly in Japan, but thanks to the dedicated fan initiative known as Operation Rainfall, players in the West were able to enjoy it too. Its popularity paved the way for three additional titles: the main games Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3, along with a spinoff called Xenoblade Chronicles X. Now, with the launch of XCX: Definitive Edition, fans can play all the titles in the series on the Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has just unveiled a brand-new trailer that showcases the storyline of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. In the year 2054, Earth is engulfed in a brutal war between two alien species. As the planet nears its end, a select group of humans boards the White Whale ark, embarking on a quest for a new home. Their challenging journey leads them to the planet Mira, but they face a significant setback when they lose the Lifehold technology during their crash landing. This device is crucial as it keeps most passengers in stasis, and it’s up to the player to recover it before the battery runs out.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Will Add New Story Elements

While the original game left players hanging with a cliffhanger, the definitive edition is expected to add fresh storylines that could address the unresolved ending. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is recognized as one of the most grand and extensive RPGs on Nintendo consoles. Besides the core mission of the BLADE, the character you play is on a quest to discover the Lifehold. Players will also delve into the vast landscape of Mira, deploy probes, and fight against both local and alien species to secure a new home for humanity.

On the Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X made great use of the GamePad, which acted as a real-time map and a means for engaging with the game in both single-player and online multiplayer modes. The new trailer revealed how these features have been improved for the Switch. The GamePad’s functions have been organized into a specific menu, and a mini-map has been introduced in the upper-right corner, similar to other games in the Xenoblade franchise. Other interface components that were previously on the GamePad have now been moved to the main screen. The overall user interface looks clean, though this transition might slightly change the gameplay dynamics in the definitive version compared to the original.
