In Wuthering Waves version 2.0, players can explore the new Rinascita region, which is teeming with exciting Tacet Discords. One of the highlights is the Chop Chop—a floating eyeball with a top hat and two hovering hands, evoking the charm of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. As players navigate Rinascita, they’ll encounter various Chop Chops, but the Lifer variant stands out as a significant challenge.
The Lifer is located at the center of the maze in Oakheart Highcourt, which is part of the Fagaceae Peninsula. This exceptional Chop Chop is armed with various buffs that increase its toughness and allow it to deliver powerful hits. This guide will assist players in understanding how to eliminate many of the Lifer’s buffs in Wuthering Waves, simplifying the encounter.
How to Defeat the Lifer
How to Find the Lifer
The Lifer is nestled in the center of the maze at Oakheart Highcourt, just below the roots of a towering tree. It’s important to note that not all entrances to this area are accessible initially. One entrance that is open from the beginning is located on the southwest side, aligned with the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can either scale the walls from the beacon’s position or take advantage of the Flight function to fly above the maze.
The Lifer Board Game
Upon entering, players will encounter the Lifer next to an expansive board game with six game pieces. The aim is to connect three pieces in a row before the Lifer does. Players control the black pieces, while the Lifer takes charge of the white ones. Importantly, the board game can change the layout of the Oakheart Highcourt maze depending on where the player’s black pieces are placed. If a black piece is set on the outer circle of the board, all walls and gates in that direction will open up. Players have the option to exit the game at any moment, and their piece positions will be retained.
Players can opt to face the Lifer head-on, but engaging in the board game is key to stripping away the Lifer’s buffs. It’s best to take care of the buffs first, as winning the board game will trigger an immediate battle with the Lifer.
How to Remove the Lifer’s Buffs
With seven formidable buffs, the Lifer is a tough opponent to beat without a dedicated team. You can get rid of four of these buffs using an item called the Stake of Imbalance, but the last three are permanent fixtures. Players can see these buffs by glancing at the glowing yellow module located just behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: The Lifer recovers 10% of its Max HP every second after not being attacked for over 2s.
- Desire for Escape: Increases the Lifer’s ATK by 25%. Additionally, DMG dealt by the Lifer is increased by an additional 25% every 20s.
- Impending Stalemate: Increases the Lifer’s ATK by 20% each time it deals DMG, stacking up to 4 times. If the Lifer deals no DMG within 6s, all stacks will be cleared.
- Decay of Time: The Lifer gains 200% Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, and Havoc Resistance. Its Max HP is increased by 25%.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: The Lifer gains interruption immunity when its HP is above 50%.
- Endless Game: The Lifer’s Immobilization state duration is decreased by 50%.
- Divine Garden: After taking DMG above 25% of Max HP in a single hit, the Lifer repels nearby enemies and deals DMG to them.
Finding the Stake of Imbalance items requires players to employ the Sensor utility tool near the Lifer. This tool reveals four purple lines that indicate the items’ locations. These lines direct players to four rooms located on the maze’s outer ring. To enter these rooms, players must adjust the game board by moving the black pieces toward the rooms, which will open the corresponding walls and gates.
After the gate opens, follow the path to the room at the end, where a winged statue stands. In two of the rooms, players must defeat Tacet Discords, and one room will have you breaking Friable Rocks. You can find the final Stake of Imbalance on a table. Each Stake of Imbalance is highlighted by a white glow, making them easy to identify and collect.
After securing a Stake of Imbalance, place it in the module situated in front of the relevant statue to deactivate the associated buff from the Lifer. Once the buff is removed, the purple line will change to yellow when viewed with the Sensor.
Defeating the Lifer
Once all four buffs are removed, players can face the Lifer at a much easier level of difficulty. They can choose to win the board game or select “Fight it out!” at the chair to begin the fight. Without those buffs, the Lifer is just a little stronger than an ordinary Chop Chop in the wild. In this state, the Lifer’s abilities—punch, grab, or spin—aren’t very threatening and won’t deal significant damage.
Players who conquer the Lifer for the first time will be rewarded with a Premium Supply Chest. A second win brings another Premium Supply Chest and three Basic Supply Chests. After a third victory, players can look forward to receiving an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests.
Players can choose to turn the buffs back on by engaging with the same four modules, which adds an extra layer of challenge to the battle. Keep in mind, though, that there are no achievements tied to defeating the Lifer while all buffs are active.
Along with the chests, players have the opportunity to unlock four achievements tied to the Lifer and its board game.
- The Lifer’s Salvation: Defeat the Lifer in Oakheart Highcourt.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Claim all the treasures guarded by the Lifer
- Defeat him three times for all nine chests
- Limit of Intelligence: Win against the Lifer in the game in Oakheart Highcourt.
- Alpha Go: Lose to the Lifer 10 times in the game in Oakheart Highcourt.
