World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

World of Warcraft has postponed the release of the second Plunderstorm event to address some unforeseen issues. While the team still aims to launch Plunderstorm by January 14, fans will need to be patient a bit longer before diving back into the battle royale mode.

Plunderstorm is an exciting pirate-themed battle royale game mode that World of Warcraft launched during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024. It has just been announced that Plunderstorm will make a comeback on January 14, 2025, offering players a mix of classic and brand-new rewards to earn.

It looks like World of Warcraft is facing some challenges with the rollout of Plunderstorm once again. The maintenance that was initially set for six hours has now been extended to eight, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, WoW community manager Kaivax mentioned in a forum post that “unexpected issues” have pushed the launch of Plunderstorm back a bit more than they had hoped. While the team aims to have it available before the end of January 14, fans are still waiting for a clearer timeline.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

Fortunately, World of Warcraft has successfully restored its normal servers for the time being. Players excited for Plunderstorm can now log in and tackle their Siren Isle weeklies, kick off the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or engage in various activities in The War Within.

The latest iteration of Plunderstorm in World of Warcraft introduces some exciting new features, including the Plunderstore and a game event interface that players can access while logged into their characters. It’s possible that these additions have led to some unforeseen issues, but we’re hopeful that World of Warcraft will resolve them swiftly so fans can dive back into the plundering fun.

Good news! The delay in the game mode hasn’t prevented players from accessing the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops in World of Warcraft. By tuning in to any Twitch streamer in the World of Warcraft category for four hours before February 4 at 10 AM PST, players can snag the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. Plus, the streamer doesn’t need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to earn progress on the Drop, allowing fans to start earning this item while they wait for the game mode to go live.
