If you’re a fan of The Sims 3, you might be pleasantly surprised to find out that there’s a fresh update available. Since its debut in 2009, The Sims 3 has finally tackled a long-standing problem that could hinder its performance on newer systems.
The Sims 3 has taken a backseat to The Sims 4, which continues to receive support from EA as the franchise approaches its 25th anniversary. To mark this milestone, The Sims 4 is set to get two significant updates, but it looks like the developers are also planning to tackle an ongoing issue with The Sims 3.
A fresh update for The Sims 3 has been released to address problems with newer Intel CPUs. In 2021, Intel launched its 12th generation processors, called Alder Lake, which turned out to be mostly incompatible with the game, causing startup crashes for players. Although a fan-made fix was shared in 2022 that resolved the issue for many, players who missed it or prefer not to use unofficial solutions can now download the latest update via the EA app. The version 1.69.47.024017 is specifically available for EA app and Windows versions, but it’s not offered on Steam.
The Sims 3 Players Should Exercise Caution When Installing Update
Given that it’s been several years since The Sims 3 received its last update, players with extensive mod collections should be cautious. The Sims 4 may dominate the player community now, but there are still plenty of dedicated Sims 3 fans who might not be up to speed on update precautions. Even though this update shouldn’t conflict with mods, backing everything up beforehand is a smart move.
Although the Sims series has launched new versions over the years, many dedicated fans still hold a special place in their hearts for the earlier games, especially The Sims 3. Some players might have been unable to access The Sims 3 for a while due to upgrading their computer systems, so now could be a great time to revisit it. On the other hand, fans of The Sims 4 will be pleased to hear that the game is set to receive not only new content but also major improvements, such as better lighting. This is wonderful news, particularly since The Sims 5 isn’t on the horizon, meaning The Sims 4 will need to carry the torch for a bit longer.
