Great news, everyone! The long-anticipated trailer for Daredevil: Born Again has just been released. With the series debuting in March, this trailer is one of the newest from Marvel Studios, and it leaves us with just a few official images, some sneak peeks in showcase videos, and intriguing hints from the show’s creators to keep the excitement building.
There could be a solid reason behind the trailer’s postponement. Vincent D’Onofrio, who is back as the villainous Kingpin, pointed out that the wildfires in Los Angeles contributed to the delay. Despite this, fans have been either patient or a bit restless, and their loyalty to a series that faced major adjustments in its initial phases has been rewarded.
Daredevil: Born Again represents a significant undertaking for Marvel Studios. Although it’s not the first instance of integrating characters from the Netflix Marvel series (Matt Murdock did appear as Peter Parker’s lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home), this will be the inaugural standalone series for one of those characters. With Daredevil season three having aired more than six years ago, and the character making cameo appearances in the MCU (notably in Echo and She-Hulk), fans are excited to see Matt Murdock take center stage in his own series once more.
The new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again is more than just a repeat of what was presented at D23, which should ease the minds of those who may have seen a leaked version. While some footage is familiar, fans will also catch a better glimpse of the new character White Tiger, as well as the civil yet charged exchange between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. There are also brief appearances of Wilson Bethel as Bullseye and a bearded Frank Castle, aka the Punisher. What really stands out in this trailer is the hard-hitting, intense action. It looks like the new creative team is not shying away from the violence that made the original Netflix series a fan favorite.
When production for Daredevil: Born Again kicked off, it didn’t exactly spark a lot of confidence. Reports indicated that the show wasn’t meeting the expectations set by Marvel Studios, and it faced significant setbacks due to the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023, which affected the entire Hollywood landscape. During this challenging period, the decision was made to scrap much of the existing work and implement some creative shifts, including changing the original showrunners and directors. Fortunately, this led to the hiring of directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who previously impressed audiences with standout episodes of Moon Knight and their remarkable contributions to Loki season 2. Their unique style is evident in the new trailer. While it’s still uncertain if Daredevil: Born Again will meet the high expectations, the trailer certainly gives fans plenty of reasons to be excited.
