Mass Effect Voice Actress Wants Original Cast to Return for TV Series

Jennifer Hale, known for her iconic role as the female Commander Shepard, is thrilled about the upcoming Mass Effect series on Amazon. She believes that the original cast should definitely make a cameo. Back in 2021, Amazon began talks with BioWare to secure the rights for a live-action adaptation of the beloved Mass Effect games, and now, a few years later, it’s been confirmed that a TV series is officially in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project is being led by current Mass Effect game project leader Michael Gamble, along with former Marvel Television producer Karim Zreik, movie producer Avi Arad, and Fast & Furious 9 writer Daniel Casey.

The branching and choice-driven storyline of Mass Effect brings up several intriguing questions regarding how a live-action adaptation will be approached. In the games, players can influence the fate of certain characters, and Commander Shepard can be tailored to individual preferences. This presents a unique challenge for casting the iconic hero in the upcoming Mass Effect series, as fans have their own interpretations of Shepard that may differ from the portrayal on screen.

Recently, one of the original voice actors for Shepard shared her thoughts on the upcoming Mass Effect series in an interview with Eurogamer. Jennifer Hale, known for her role as the female Shepard in the first three games, expressed her enthusiasm for being part of the new show in any way possible. She also emphasized the importance of including as many original voice cast members as feasible, stating, “The voice acting community is filled with incredibly talented performers […] I’m eager for the production company that recognizes this treasure.”

Jennifer Hale Wants to Come Back for Mass Effect TV Series

In a recent interview, Jennifer Hale shared her thoughts on which version of Commander Shepard she’d love to see in the live-action Mass Effect series. She naturally favored the “FemShep” she first voiced in the original trilogy. Additionally, she expressed her enthusiasm for playing any character in the show and her eagerness to return for the next Mass Effect game that BioWare is currently working on.

The voice acting community is filled with incredibly talented performers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I’m eager for a savvy production company to recognize this hidden gem.

Among the numerous iconic heroes and villains in the Mass Effect series, Jennifer Hale’s Commander Shepard is particularly memorable. The series featured a remarkable lineup of voice actors and celebrities, enhancing the authenticity of BioWare’s expansive sci-fi world for players. Even if they don’t reprise their roles, it would be a joy for long-time fans to see Brandon Keener, known for voicing Garrus Vakarian, Raphael Sbarge as Kaidan Alenko, or even Jennifer Hale in Amazon’s upcoming live-action Mass Effect series.
