The talented Rumiko Takahashi, famous for creating Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha, has just praised a manga by Ryuhei Tamura, the mind behind Beelzebub. She joins a stellar lineup of celebrated authors, including Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist), Tite Kubo (Bleach), and Kazuhiro Fujita (Ushio to Tora), all of whom have recommended this exciting read.
A recommendation can significantly boost a series’ popularity. Since Rumiko Takahashi is so well-respected, it’s probable that some fans will give this one a try. For instance, not long ago, Frieren suggested a manga, and soon after, a reprint was revealed.
Takahashi encourages readers to take a look at Cosmos. You can find her message on the obi of the fifth volume, which is the strip of paper attached to the manga cover. Earlier volumes included thoughts from Arakawa, Kubo, and Fujita. It’s possible that Takahashi will share a message on social media about the series when the new volume is released on January 17, 2025.
Rumiko’s Message About Cosmos
According to Comic Natalie, the message featured in the obi is as follows:
This is a story about daily life in a surreal world. It’s real, cool, and interesting at the same time.
Tamura himself dropped a few illustrations celebrating the upcoming volume:
What is Cosmos’ Premise?

Cosmos is the newest creation from Ryuhei Tamura, currently featured in Sunday Gene-X, a monthly magazine, since 2023. Up to now, there are 5 volumes of chapters compiled. While it hasn’t been released in the US yet, VIZ Media has secured the licensing rights, and the first volume is expected to be available this year.
The narrative unfolds in COSMOS, an insurance firm dedicated to extraterrestrial beings. It centers around Kaede Mizumori, a high school student who unexpectedly encounters the enigmatic Rin Homura.
Since the manga is currently in its fifth volume, it has the potential to be nominated for the Taisho Award, which is one of Japan’s most prestigious manga awards.
Tamura is primarily recognized for his work on Beelzebub (just to clarify, this is not the same as Miss Beelzebub). However, he has also created other series such as Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin, Hungry Marie, and Pyramid no Himitsu.
