Fortnite Voice Reporting: How It Works & What You Need to Know

Fortnite Voice Reporting

In its latest move to improve the in-game experience, Fortnite has rolled out voice reporting, a new tool designed to address toxic behavior within the gaming community. Alongside existing features such as blocking and muting, this addition is part of Epic Games’ ongoing efforts to foster a healthier and more respectful environment for all players.

What is Voice Reporting?

Voice reporting allows players to submit audio evidence when filing a report for inappropriate or unsportsmanlike behavior. This feature is particularly useful for addressing instances of harassment or offensive language through voice chat, giving players a new way to support their claims with direct evidence.

How Voice Reporting Works

Once voice reporting is activated, Fortnite continuously captures and stores the last five minutes of voice chat audio during gameplay. If a player wishes to report another player, they can submit these recent recordings as part of their report. However, it is important to note that only the most recent five minutes of audio are stored and can be used for reporting purposes. Fortnite does not keep any recordings beyond this window.

When a report is made, the voice recording is sent to Epic Games for review, where it will be evaluated against the community guidelines. Players can make sure that their voice reporting feature is activated through the game’s audio settings to enable the submission of voice files if needed.

For players who prefer privacy, Fortnite offers the option to turn off voice recording through the “Off When Possible” setting. This will prevent recording when playing with friends who also have this setting enabled.

Voice Reporting for Players Under 18

For players under the age of 18, voice reporting is automatically enabled as a safety measure and cannot be disabled. This ensures that young players are protected while interacting in the game’s voice chat. However, players under 18 who do not wish to be recorded can choose to mute themselves as an alternative.

Final Thoughts

With the introduction of voice reporting, Fortnite is taking another step toward ensuring a safe and enjoyable gaming experience for its community. By giving players the tools to report harmful behavior with concrete evidence, Epic Games continues to emphasize the importance of respect and fair play in the gaming world. Remember to play responsibly and help keep Fortnite a fun and non-toxic space for everyone.
