Final Fantasy 14 has a rich and intricate history that began with its launch in 2010. The original version, known as 1.0, was quite different from the beloved game players enjoy today and unfortunately did not resonate well with the gaming community. The backlash was so significant that the game was taken offline in November 2012, following a dramatic in-game event where the moon of Dalamud crashed into Eorzea. This pivotal moment set the stage for the 2.0 version, titled A Realm Reborn, which debuted in 2013. Under the leadership of Naoki Yoshida, this new iteration aimed to regain the trust of players after the disappointing reception of the first version.

A Reddit user known as turn_a_blind_eye shared an interesting analysis on the platform, detailing the dialogue from each expansion of the game, starting with A Realm Reborn. Their breakdown highlights which characters have the most lines and the most commonly used words, along with a comprehensive overview of the dialogue across the entire game. As many fans expected, Alphinaud, a key character in every expansion since the launch of Final Fantasy 14, ranks first in total dialogue. What caught some off guard, though, was that Wuk Lamat, who made his debut towards the end of Endwalker, came in a surprising third place, thanks to his significant presence in the latest expansion, Dawntrail.

Alphinaud Determined to be Final Fantasy 14’s Most Talkative NPC

Many fans were surprised to see Wuk Lamat leading in dialogue counts, surpassing popular characters like Y’shtola and Thancred. However, considering the character-driven nature of the Dawntrail expansion, it makes sense that its main female character would have the most lines. Additionally, Zero, a newer addition to the game, also made it into the top 20, outpacing the beloved antagonist Emet-Selch in dialogue. Urianger brings a touch of humor to his character through his dialogue, frequently using words like ’tis’, ‘thou’, and ‘Loporrits’. The Loporrits, the charming moon rabbits introduced in Endwalker, are often seen alongside Urianger throughout the expansion and in the subsequent patch quests.

As we approach the new year, Final Fantasy 14 is set for an exhilarating 2025. The release of Patch 7.2 is on the calendar for early in the year, and Patch 7.3 is thought to wrap up the Dawntrail storyline in a spectacular way.
