Fans Believe Marvel Rivals Map Easter Egg Teases Next Hero

There’s a buzz among Marvel Rivals players that Wong might be joining the game’s lineup, thanks to a recently found Easter Egg. Marvel Rivals has already captured the hearts of multiplayer hero shooter fans, similar to Overwatch, with more than 10 million players jumping in during its first 72 hours. Since then, players have been eagerly anticipating the next wave of characters and maps, which are scheduled to launch on January 10.

The first season of Marvel Rivals, named “Eternal Night,” will highlight the infamous Dracula as the central antagonist. This has led fans to believe that the season will delve into the supernatural side of Marvel, with characters like Blade taking the spotlight. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that all four members of the Fantastic Four will be introduced during the season. As a special treat, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman will also have their evil versions, the Maker and Malice, available as alternate skins.

Marvel Rivals enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as they think they’ve discovered a clue about a possible future character in the recently unveiled Sanctum Sanctorum map from Season 1. According to a Reddit user known as fugo_hate, a painting of Wong, the mystical assistant to Doctor Strange, makes a fleeting appearance in the trailer for this new location, seemingly inspired by his character in the MCU. This has led many to speculate whether Wong will eventually be added to the playable character lineup and what kind of magical skills he might possess.

Fans Think Wong Could Be Added to Marvel Rivals

Since the 1960s, Wong has been an essential part of the Doctor Strange comics, but his fame has surged recently, thanks to Benedict Wong’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the gaming world, Wong initially appeared as a non-playable character in 2006’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and has since become playable in mobile titles like Marvel Contest of Champions and Marvel Snap, along with LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

The Wong painting might just be a reference to one of Doctor Strange’s key allies, especially since the Marvel Rivals Sanctum Sanctorum map is brimming with Easter eggs and cameos from the supernatural aspects of the Marvel universe. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night is going live later this week, meaning players won’t have to wait long to battle Dracula in three fresh locations or engage in the new Doom Match mode against other players. Plus, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman will be available as playable characters starting January 10.
