Exciting updates for Call of Duty: Warzone fans facing lobby crashes! After receiving feedback about games freezing or crashing during loading, which caused some players to receive unjust penalties, the team has stepped in. While the core issue is still being addressed, a quick fix has been rolled out to prevent players from being penalized for lobby problems.
The year 2024 has been significant for the Call of Duty franchise, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Raven Software lately. In late December, Warzone matchmaking faced a temporary shutdown due to an unintended update, and players have consistently raised concerns about cheating and various bugs. Unfortunately, the new year is kicking off with yet another frustrating problem for the game.
Players in Warzone have been experiencing freezing and crashing issues during loading screens, leading Raven Software to start looking into the problem on January 6. Although the bug remains unresolved on their public Trello board, the developers have taken steps to alleviate some frustration. In a Twitter update on January 9, they announced a temporary halt to Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players who disconnect before entering a Ranked match. This change comes after players voiced their anger over suspensions caused by the glitch, providing some relief for those affected.
Call of Duty: Warzone Developers Have Responded to the Lobby Crash Issue
Prior to the update, players experiencing game crashes risked losing their hard-earned SR points and faced delays of several minutes before they could rejoin a match. Interestingly, Warzone players had previously called for an early leaving penalty, but now that it’s implemented, it’s causing some complications when bugs lead to unexpected disconnections. To tackle this issue, Raven Software has temporarily suspended the penalty. Players who get kicked out before the match begins won’t face any penalties, while those who exit mid-game will still be penalized.
Although players are still on the lookout for a lasting solution, the recent penalty update has eased the urgency of the issue. However, many fans might still feel a bit disheartened by the current state of affairs. Even after a significant update in early January 2025, bugs continue to linger, and any interruptions to Ranked play are bound to upset some players, no matter the context. The Call of Duty: Warzone team is certainly busy tackling these bugs and patches, but we hope they can sort everything out soon.
