Noah Hawley Teases Thrills of ‘Alien: Earth’ at the Emmys
Noah Hawley recently attended the Emmys, offering intriguing hints about his forthcoming series, "Alien: Earth," which promises to deliver an exhilarating horror experience.
In a world where everyone can hear your screams, Hawley seems to suggest that viewers will find themselves doing just that when "Alien: Earth" premieres next year. Speaking with Deadline at the event, he opted against revealing specific plot details, but he did provide some insight into the series’ implications. "Imagining a Xenomorph roaming freely on Earth is genuinely spine-chilling," expressed Hawley. "The thought of it moving among us is unsettling, and while I can’t disclose the context in which you’ll witness this, rest assured — you’ll see it. You might even find yourself locking your doors that evening."
This comment naturally provokes curiosity about just who would neglect to secure their doors at night, but it’s evident that Hawley’s aim is to evoke a fear strong enough to send viewers racing upstairs after extinguishing all the lights before bed. In discussing the iconic xenomorph, he shared, "One of the most enjoyable aspects for me was engaging deeply with the creature. I wanted to integrate some of my own ideas into its design without altering its iconic silhouette, as that aspect is untouchable. However, we all know that the host influences the final form of the alien. I aimed to experiment with aspects of the creature to ensure it is as terrifying as possible."
Hawley further elaborated on the series in an interview with Variety at the Emmys. He stated that "Alien: Earth" will encompass everything fans love about the franchise while introducing an entirely new layer. "The original films revolve around survival themes, which work perfectly for a two-hour runtime, but when developing a series spanning 30+ hours, there needs to be a broader, dramatic narrative," he explained.
While details on the series remain sparse, current expectations suggest that it will center around a young woman and a team of soldiers as they confront the titular alien on Earth. A teaser trailer was released earlier in the month, but it primarily showcases the alien and the planet itself, leaving much to the imagination.
As fans eagerly await more information, Hawley’s comments hint at a thrilling blend of horror and dramatic storytelling, ensuring anticipation continues to build as the premiere date approaches.
