It is important for consumers to be able to submit their case to an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Body if they cannot solve their dispute with the trader or with the help of The ECC-Net. In the beginning of the year 2020 new legislationabout alternative dispute resolution bodies.
With the implementation of the new legislation consumers have the option of submitting their disputes to a cost effective, efficient and quick handling to an ADR body. An ADR called "Kærunefnd vöru- og þjónustukaupa" can rule in most consumer cases. Other ADR´s can request validation from the ministry and accept cases that otherwise would be submitted to Kærunefnd vöru- og þjónustukaupa.

Kærunefnd vöru- og þjónustukaupa is an independant ADR that rules in cases between a consumer and a trader regarding most consumer related disputes when purchasing a product or a service. Consumers can file their complaint on the ADR website, www.kvth.is kvth.is or through (for Icelandic residents) Ísland.is.
