Five French tourists flew with an Icelandic airline from France to the United States with a stopover in Iceland. For some reason their luggage did not arrive in the US and they immediately complained to the airline. They were told that the luggage would be sent to them at the earliest opportunity. At the end of their 19 day trip some of the luggage was still missing. The tourists were forced to purchase a number of necessities as well as buy or rent various outdoor equipment, but the main purpose of the trip was to go camping. The tourists asked the airline to be reimbursed for expenses. As their claim was not successful they contacted the ECC-Net. After ECC Iceland handled the matter the tourists were reimbursed the amount of 1,173 EUR, in accordance to receipts, and the airline offered them a courtesy consolation for all the inconvenience as well.
